The history of Heathcote stems from the exploration of gold in the mid 1800's and there are still traces of these activities around the town today. Heathcote is a historical place of interest and has many significant icons a visitor would find worthwhile. These include Pink Cliffs, the surrounding State Forest, Historical Buildings including the Bank, the old school, the powder magazine and many more.
The 150th Anniversary of Heathcote as a town comes around in 2003 and there will be a year of celebrations culminating in a wild weekend carnival. The town hosts a Harvest festival in May, each year, on the main community oval with many fantastic attractions and a hoard of visitors from around the state. The Galleries alone make Heathcote a good destination |
